Recruiting international employees

Considering recruiting internationally or already preparing to welcome a new employee from abroad? Here you can find information about recruitment, residence and work permits, and the support available to you, your new employee and their family.

Get support with international recruitment

For more than 10 years, Billund Erhverv has supported local companies recruiting and welcoming international employees through Newcomer Service. We can guide you through the process and help your new employee and their family navigate the practical aspects of moving to and settling in the Billund area.

Residence and work permits

When hiring international employees, there are several rules and authorities you need to be aware of.

The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) administers the different schemes for residence and work permits. Which scheme applies depends on factors such as the employee’s nationality and terms of employment.

Some companies may also be eligible for certification under SIRI’s Fast-track Scheme, which can provide a faster and more flexible process when recruiting employees from abroad.

Recruiting from the EU/EEA

Workindenmark helps Danish companies recruit internationally. Employers can get support with finding candidates as well as information and guidance on international recruitment.

Through the EURES Targeted Mobility Scheme, financial support may also be available in some cases when recruiting employees across EU countries.
